The meeting started as scheduled, but just before it began in the centre of Brussels, two people - fans of the Swedish national team - were shot dead. Another fan was injured. The shooter during his actions loudly pronounced the phrase "Allahu Akbar".

According to Le Soir, the wounded armed man whom the police detained in the morning is Abdesalem L., a Tunisian national who was staying illegally in Belgium. The attacker died in intensive care at around 9:30 local time. Soon the prosecutor's office confirmed the news.

Recall, the first half of the match between Belgium and Sweden was played in full and ended with the score 1:1, but at halftime the guests took the initiative to suspend the game. The Belgians accepted this proposal, and later UEFA, after consultation with the participants of the match, as well as the local police, decided to cancel the match.
