Former Dnipro and Shakhtar Donetsk player Konstantin Kravchenko has told how he could have ended up at Dynamo Kyiv.
"In the winter break of the season-2007/08 the question of my transfer from Dnipro was being decided. My contract stipulated five million euros. We had already communicated with Dynamo Kyiv. There was information that I was being replaced by Ruslan Rotan. He goes to Dnipro, I - to Dynamo. The agent started to negotiate with Surkis about the transfer and other things. It was about 10 December 2007.
Dynamo said: "Let's finish negotiations after the New Year, after 16 January. We'll sit down and talk". Two days later, a call from Shakhtar - "we want to see you, we are paying the retention fee, come and sign the contract". I got in the car, signed the contract, and the issue was closed.
Dnipro fans were upset with me, although I wanted to achieve something with Dnipro and go to Europe. But I was put before the fact in some things. I am not sure that in Dnipro I would have been allowed to play normally.
"Dnipro" wanted me to go to Dynamo in exchange for Rotan, I do not know, with or without extra payment. We spent two weeks talking to Dynamo - whether they needed me or not. And Shakhtar paid the contractual penalty, €5m, plus €500,000 in taxes, and signed me," FanDay quoted Kravchenko as saying.
