Former Ukraine national team player Andriy Polunin has told what he thinks about the frequent change of coaches at Luhansk Zorya.
Andrei Polunin- Since May, Zorya have been changing coaches like a glove: Patrick van Leeuwen was replaced by Nenad Lalatovic, the Serbian was replaced by Valeriy Kriventsov, and now the team is led by Yuriy Koval. We have not noticed such a situation in Zorya before....
- Only Zorya Luhansk leaders know the reasons for such a frequent change of head coaches. It is clear that negative results are a change on the coaching bridge. But the frequent change of head coaches is not in favour of the team. Players need to get used to new requirements, the training process is changing. I think that the club clearly did not get it right with Lalatovic, Kriventsov tried to fix everything, but failed. And Koval was engaged in children's and youth football at Zorya. It is clear that in November, in the course of the season, it is difficult to find a quality specialist.
- Do you think that in winter Zorya managers will be looking for a new head coach?
- I do not know. We need to understand the current financial state of Zorya. It is clear that the Luhansk team will get good money for participation in the group stage of the Conference League, a little less than 4 million euros. But what will this money be used for? The most important question is what vector of development Zorya management will choose. Maybe they will give Mladen Bartulovic a chance and he will prove himself. We'll see.
Besides, if we talk about the results, we should take into account that Zorya plays on three fronts - UPL, Ukrainian Cup and Conference League. Given the difficult logistics, it is necessary to have at least 25 qualified performers. Do we have them in the team now? No. Here is the answer. There is simply no quality bench for a player to come on as a substitute and strengthen the team's game.
