Metalist 1925 CEO - on the possible resumption of the Ukrainian Youth Championship (U-21)

Andriy Nedelin, the general director of Kharkiv's Metalist 1925, commented to Tribuna.com on the words of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, UAF Vice President Serhiy Rebrov, about the possible resumption of the Ukrainian U-21 Championship.

"The initiative is, of course, very correct and rational from the point of view of the national team's institution. Today, Metalist 1925 is the only club that has been forced to move from its place of registration since the beginning of the active phase of the 9-year war.

Of course, this raises a number of organisational issues and complicates the process. First of all, infrastructure issues.
If in Kharkiv we have a training base that can accommodate 4-5 teams for training and competitions at the same time, today, being in Kyiv and having three teams (main, junior, women's), it is very difficult, I would say unrealistic, to close this process 100%.

This is a very difficult issue for us, and it's not even a financial issue. This is a question of the lack of opportunity to professionally deal with the U-21 team. By the way, our club has repeatedly sent to the UAF projects of reforms of U-19 competitions that would optimise the training of young footballers for national teams of all ages," Nedelin said.
