Head coach of Oleksandriya Ruslan Rotan commented on the words of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, vice-president of the UAF Serhiy Rebrov about the possible resumption of the youth championship (U-21).
"I believe that the return of the U-21 championship is quite the right decision.
Rebrov was quite right to point out that we lose a lot of young talent, because in Ukrainian football there is no additional step between U-19 and the base team. Young players simply do not mature either physically or morally. They are simply not ready to play adult football.
It is very hard to make a name for yourself at that age - when you are 19, 20, 21. Yes, there are, of course, talents who have proved themselves at a fairly young age. Coaches notice them and immediately attract them to the first team. But there are not so many of them.
Most of the young boys are so-called late players, that is, they need some time to fulfil their potential and make themselves known a little later. Therefore, the initiative to return the youth championship is quite right," Rotan said.
