LASK defender Maksym Taloverov said that he wanted to play only for the Ukrainian national team, despite his intention to obtain permanent residence in the Czech Republic.
Максим Таловеров- There was information that the move to re-rent, rather than immediately transferring to LASK in the summer, was your wish to obtain permanent residence in the Czech Republic after 5 years of residence. Can you confirm or deny this?
- Yes, according to Czech law, I have the right to obtain permanent residence after 5 years in the country. I have many ties to the Czech Republic now, as I have adapted well there, I know the culture, I speak the language, and I regularly pay high taxes. In the summer, I plan to apply for a residence permit, which will allow me to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 180 days a year. And there will be no need to apply for a visa upon arrival there.
I have many friends there, many acquaintances, and I love this country very much. But in reality, this has nothing to do with obtaining citizenship, so I don't know why it caused such a stir in the media.
- Given that you are as close as possible to making your debut for the senior national team of Ukraine in an official match, have there been any new steps taken by the Czech federation recently despite your refusal to play for their U-21 side?
- Whatever steps the Czech federation takes, I personally see myself only wearing the shirt of the national team of Ukraine. It's not even up for discussion. I would like to close this issue once and for all.
- What are your expectations from the Euro 2024 play-offs, how do you rate your opponents?
- These are some of the most important matches of this year in general and the most important this season for the national team. My teammates and coaches said that there are no easy or difficult opponents at this level, every game is difficult. I know this from both the club level and the U-21 level. It makes absolutely no difference - every game is very difficult.
I am sure that at the national team level, each team is even more competitive.
I expect that all meetings will be difficult, and our team will do everything possible and impossible to achieve what we want. We will do everything. Each of the opponents also deserves to reach the playoffs, which means they are very strong. We will prepare and believe in the best.
