Iceland's head coach Oge Fridtjof Hareide has decided to voice his views on the military conflict between Israel and Palestine, TMW reports.
Before the recent 4-1 Euro 2024 semi-final play-off match against Israel, the 70-year-old Norwegian said: "If you ask my personal viewpoint, I wouldn't play against Israel, given what they are doing to women, children and thousands of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip".
And at the press conference after the match, Hareide confirmed his words, "Personally, I didn't want to, but we still had to play, otherwise the consequences for Iceland would have been serious."
We will remind, the national team of Iceland is the opponent of the national team of Ukraine in the final play-off round of the qualifying round of Euro-2024
