Adidas stops selling Germany national team shirts with number 44

German sportswear manufacturer Adidas is planning to stop selling German national team shirts with the number 44 on them.

As Adidas spokesman Oliver Bruggen told DPA, this will be done in response to criticism that the number 44 resembles the symbol of the Nazi SS.

- "Adidas employs people from around a hundred countries, we promote racial diversity and inclusion, and as a company we actively oppose xenophobia, anti-Semitism, violence and hatred in any form," Bruggen said.
