The press service of Odesa-based Chornomorets has announced that both Ukrainian Premier League matches against Shakhtar will be played in Kyiv.
"The matches of the 12th round of the UPL Chornomorets vs Shakhtar and the 27th round of the UPL Shakhtar vs Chornomorets will take place in Kyiv at the Arena Livyi Berehir stadium. The matches will be played on 1 and 5 May, at 13:00 and 18:00 respectively.
FC Chornomorets initiated the postponement. We are grateful to the management of the Donetsk club for meeting us halfway in this matter.
The reason for the change of venue is the complicated logistics, which is not conducive to the quality preparation of the players ahead of the important matches in the final stretch of the championship. According to the previous schedule, the Odesa team would have had the following map of football matches: Uzhhorod - Odesa - Lviv. Over the course of 10 days, the team would have had to travel by train for almost 60 hours.
Therefore, for reasons of efficient and convenient logistics, Chornomorets decided to enter into negotiations with the opponent and came to an important agreement.
By mutual decision, FC Shakhtar will take over the organisation of ticket sales. All the funds raised from ticket sales will be used to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine," reads a statement on Chornomorets' official telegram channel.
