Inter Milan goalkeeper Jan Sommer has announced his retirement from the Swiss national team.
- It has been an honor and a privilege to represent my country at the highest level for the past 12 years. With the end of Euro 2024, it's time to say goodbye," Sommer, 35, said in a statement posted on the Swiss Football Association website.
Sommer made his national team debut in May 2012. Since 2014, he has played in three European Championships and two World Cups as the No. 1. His last match with the Swiss national team was in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024, where the team lost on penalties to England.
