This week the return playoff matches of the Champions League qualification round of the 2024/25 season are taking place. In one of them on Tuesday, August 27, Austrian Salzburg and Dynamo Kyiv met. The match was held in Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena stadium.

"Dinamo" just started this match perfectly, forcing Salzburg to play without the ball with the help of total, "high" pressing. During the first ten minutes of the match the guests had a series of good attacks, made three strikes on the opponent's goal and gave two corners. But the first moment created by the Austrian team resulted in a goal - it was Damir on the 12th minute of the match who sent the ball into the bottom corner of Dynamo's goal with a shot from 14 meters - 1:0. Moreover, a few minutes later there was a dangerous shot by Dedic from outside the penalty area, after which the ball flew over the crossbar.
In general, the conceded goal seemed to have undermined Dinamo players. The activity, which the Ukrainian team used to sparkle in the opening of the game, completely disappeared. But there were mistakes and losses of the ball on their own half of the pitch. As a result, Salzburg took the advantage. And on the 25th minute the second ball almost flew into Dynamo's gates - it was Yeoh in the final stage of the counterattack of his team was, in fact, one-on-one with Buschan from the left side of the penalty area, shot, but this time the goalkeeper of the Bilo-Syni managed to save, kicking the ball away.
Nevertheless, Dynamo gradually recovered in the course of the game, and in the 29th minute of the match equalized the score: Mikhavko made a phenomenal pass from his own half of the field to Vanat on the operational space, the latter gained speed, broke into the penalty area on the left and, despite the interference from Bedu, sent the ball into the far corner of the goal "Salzburg" - 1:1.
The rest of the first half the teams spent exchanging attacks, but neither Dynamo nor Salzburg managed to change the score before the break.
From the first minutes of the second half the Austrian team took full advantage. But it didn't lead to any sharpness at Buschan's goal, and on 53 minutes Vanat could have scored a double, but shooting from seven meters, he sent the ball over the target. And two minutes later Bedu almost cut the ball into his own net - the ball went near the bar.
Closer to the 60th minute of the match Dynamo significantly improved their control over the ball and also started attacking. And again the game was played without the center of the field - attack on attack. But there were still no scoring chances. Only in the 68th minute Brazko made a powerful shot from 20 meters, and the ball whistled over the crossbar of the Salzburg goal.
In the final segment of the match Kyiv were expectedly more persistent, but the hosts counterattacked with no less zeal. In the 81st minute Dynamo had to score, but Shaparenko, shooting from about 11-meter mark after a spectacular heel pass from Kabaev, sent the ball near the bar. Shovkovskiy's men had no other opportunities to change the scoreline. As a result, it was a draw, 1:1.
Thus, on the sum of two matches (0:2, 1:1) Dynamo failed to qualify for the main stage of the Champions League, and now will continue to play in the main stage of the Europa League, which will now be represented by one league for 36 teams. The draw for this stage of the tournament will be held next Friday, August 30(preliminary lineup of baskets), and the main stage itself will start on September 25.
