Gerard Pique: "I will ask those in UEFA: why did you create this League of Nations?"

Former Barcelona and Spanish national team defender Gerard Pique expressed his opinion on the large number of injured players in modern football.

"Too many games, and now we see players screaming: "We are injured". There are matches every three days and in the summer we have no time to rest. I think the number of matches should be reduced. We should convene all the leagues and tell them that instead of 20 teams, 16 clubs should participate in the competition.

I will ask those in UEFA: why did you create this League of Nations? And I would say the same thing to FIFA with this club World Cup. I understand that they want to generate more revenue, but for the sake of football, I think it would be much better to have fewer matches, but more premium and more exclusive experiences. It would be easier to entertain the public," Footmercato.net quoted Pique as saying.
