The visitors won a narrow 2-1 victory. This match was a special one for the Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, Madrid Xtra reports.

He came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute of the match instead of Federico Valverde. This appearance on the field allowed him to rewrite the history of the Madrid club. The Croatian became the oldest player to play for the "royal club" at the age of 39 years and 40 days. He broke the record held by Ferenc Puskas (39 years and 36 days) since 1966.

Interestingly, Luka Modric also marked this achievement with an effective action that brought his team victory. Just three minutes after his appearance on the field, the veteran gave an incredible assist to Vinicius Junior, who set up the final score.

It should be noted that the midfielder will have the opportunity to update his record on October 22. On that day, Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
