Former assistant head coach of “Minai” Mykola Tsyimbal evaluated the actions of each of the players from Kyiv “Dynamo” in the match of the 5th round of the main stage of the Europa League against the Czech “Victoria” (1:2).
Heorhii Bushchan — 7.0
— Made a lot of saves, was a reliable figure for “Dynamo”. The fact that he didn’t always act well with his feet is a result of the pressing from “Victoria”. The Dynamo players had to play through him for Bushchan to start attacks. I would also note the far from ideal condition of the pitch at the stadium in Hamburg.
Konstantin Vivcharenko — 7.5
— Carried out a large amount of work, played in attack, made crosses. Vivcharenko did not always manage to switch from attack to defense in time, but he was supposed to be covered by the defensive midfielders.
Taras Mykhavko — 6.0
— He made mistakes in tactical episodes in the first half. Overall, a lot of criticism is directed at Mykhavko. I saw the statistics showing that the opposing team is directing its pressure specifically on Mykhavko, who initiates attacks for “Dynamo”. But he is a young player who is undergoing a kind of test, it is important for him to go through this path and become even stronger by gaining experience.
Denys Popov — 6.0
— Unfortunately, Popov did not stand out among the others and had a match on par with Mykhavko and Bilovar. There were tactical errors from Denys, as well as from the entire Dynamo defense in general.
Kristian Bilovar — 6.0
— In the moment leading up to the first goal, Bilovar allowed Matej Vydra to turn and shoot. In such episodes, it is necessary to act tighter with the opponent. I want to see a more reliable game from Kristian in defense.
Oleksandr Karavaiev — 7.0
— Played at his level. For wing-backs, it is a tough game because the players in that position for “Victoria” are virtually key. Here, you need to be able to switch in time from attack to defense and vice versa.
— How would you generally evaluate Shovkovskyi’s decision to play against “Victoria” with three central defenders?
— This was anticipated. I think that the Dynamo players modeled this game during their previous match against “Chornomorets”. Kyiv also played with three center-backs against Roma. The problem is that the level of resistance in the Ukrainian championship is not that high, especially when talking about the match with “Chornomorets”, where there was practically none.
The fact that Shovkovskyi’s coaching staff mirrored the scheme is a normal phenomenon that has a right to exist. The problem is that “Dynamo” does not have a place to practice this scheme with a good level of intensity and resistance.
Mykola Shaparenko — 6.5
— The defensive midfield players feel the intensity and difficulty of playing in such a scheme well, considering the workload placed upon them. They need to maintain a balance between defense and attack throughout the game. Both Brazhko and Shaparenko performed a large amount of work, however, they did not always manage to cover the wing-backs.
Volodymyr Brazhko — 6.5
— It seems to me that Brazhko played this match at his usual level. Again, we talk about the large volume of work done, but fatigue was felt in his actions, with unnecessary losses of the ball.
Valentyn Rubchynskyi — 7.0
— I believe that Rubchynskyi had a very good match in terms of volume of work and pressing. Valentyn is still not a key player of “Dynamo”, but he handles the intensity well; there are no questions about Rubchynskyi’s physical data.
Vitalii Buyalskyi — 6.5
— We are used to moments when Buyalskyi bursts into free zones, plays intricately, interacts with Vanat, but “Victoria” played very well defensively. There wasn’t that much space, so Vitalii could not showcase his strengths, although he did have moments. I wish he would take more responsibility, solve episodes thanks to individual skill, but we have what we have.
Vladyslav Vanat — 6.5
— Everyone expects goals from the striker. Vanat was lacking minor details: the first quality touch, playing ahead of the defender, getting into a good shooting position. Vladyslav is trying hard, performing a significant amount of work, but when it comes to decisive moments in the penalty area, he lacks coolness and fresh legs.
— Which of the Dynamo substitutes who came on in the game against Victoria impressed you?
— Well, actually all the players added dynamics and tempo. After these substitutions, “Dynamo” took the initiative and forced “Victoria” players to defend. Kabayev, Tymchyk, and Guerrero all entered the match well, freshened up the game and created pressure. Vladyslav even managed to score such a beautiful goal in the last minutes. So yes, Shovkovskyi’s substitutions strengthened the game of “Dynamo”.
