Former head coach of Kyiv’s Dynamo, Mircea Lucescu, who currently heads the Romanian national team, has altered his plans regarding the venue for his scheduled surgery for coxarthrosis.
Recall that the 79-year-old specialist underwent a similar operation on his left hip in 2023. At that time, Lucescu was leading Dynamo and was operated on in one of the clinics in Kyiv.
Recently, Romanian media reported information that the coach planned to undergo surgery on his right hip in the same Kyiv clinic, but ultimately, Lucescu abandoned this idea.
According to golazo.ro, the Romanian national team coach no longer plans to travel to Kyiv, and one of the reasons for this is the ongoing war. Meanwhile, according to the publication, Lucescu has spent the last few weeks consulting with other former athletes who have undergone similar surgeries by an unnamed Romanian doctor, and upon learning that almost all of them recovered in no more than two weeks, the coach made the final decision to have the surgery in his own country.
It is expected that Lucescu will be operated on immediately after the New Year. If everything goes well, then at the latest, by the end of January, the coach will be able to travel again for overseas matches.
