The General Director of “Karpaty,” Andriy Rusol, talked about the announced merger of the “green-white” team and “Rukh.”
Andriy Rusol— I still don’t fully understand which word to choose to explain the situation with “Rukh,” because a lot of people are saying: merger, absorption. This is not a merger, this is not an absorption. “Rukh” remains a separate team, we remain “Karpaty.” No one is absorbing anyone, and we are not merging.
In simple words: today “Rukh” has what can greatly accelerate our path to the final point of our plateau. We dream of seeing a team that will consist mostly of local players.
And to foster our own, “Karpaty” needs to go through a very long path. Because “Rukh” has outpaced us in this component — in terms of building an academy, in terms of having high-qualified Lviv players.
By the time we raise our own young players or find some in foreign markets, it would take us 3-4 years. But we are getting quality players here and now. And we are getting the prospect that this will be a gradual process, because we are negotiating with “Rukh” regarding cooperation, combining efforts in youth football.
What they have now, that expertise, that experience they have gained over the years of work. And they have created a very good academy, gained very good experience. And this generation that they have now — there are really very good players there, — said Rusol.
