Mircea Lucescu: "First, my leg swelled up a lot..."

The former head coach of Kyiv’s Dynamo, Mircea Lucescu, who now leads the Romanian national team, talked about his recovery after surgery for coxarthrosis on his thigh.

Mircea Lucescu

"It has been two weeks since the surgery, and I feel quite well; everything is going normally. As the doctor who successfully operated on me says, we have a positive trend.

Currently, I go to the clinic daily for sessions. My activity in the gym is not as great as I would like it to be during this period. But on the other hand, in just a few sessions, I have achieved extraordinary results. At first, my leg was very swollen, but now everything is fine.

Of course, now everything depends on me and those who are helping me recover. But I need to recover as quickly as possible, considering that the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup are coming up (against Bosnia on March 21, and against San Marino on March 24, — ed. note),” Lucescu is quoted by gsp.ro.

It is worth adding that according to doctors’ forecasts, Lucescu is expected to fully recover from the surgery by mid-March.
