The UAF Referees Committee commented on the situation regarding the disallowed goal of "Shakhtar" in the match of the 25th round of the Ukrainian Championship "Shakhtar" — "Kolos", which took place on April 19, 2025.

“The disallowed goal occurred due to a violation of the Rules of the Game — the "offside" position of the "Shakhtar" player. According to the protocol and recommendations for VAR, it is mandatory to check the initial phase of attacking actions for each scored goal (from ball interception to the ball scored into the net).
In this episode, when checking VAR for the development of the attack by the "Shakhtar" players, interference in the game was detected by player No. 6 of "Shakhtar," who was in an "offside" position, after which the ball was scored into the "Kolos" net. Due to technical problems in the VAR machine, which did not allow for graphical confirmation of the "offside" position of the aforementioned player, a lot of time was needed to confirm the decision to cancel the goal. This time was fully compensated at the end of the match.
When technically establishing markers and lines, the computer in digital value confirmed that the "Shakhtar" player No. 6 was in an "offside" position. However, graphically, due to a failure in the system for fixing offside lines, this could not be reflected (on the graphic, the lines appeared in an incorrect position, however, the fact of the "offside" position was technically confirmed by the numbers).
Unfortunately, such a loss of time does indeed affect the dynamics of the game, but the main goal of using the VAR system is to arrive at a correct final decision.
The Referees Committee has already made the appropriate appeal to the technical contractor regarding the technical failure in the system’s operation,” the comment stated.
