The Pechersk District Court of the city of Kyiv passed a decision, according to which the UAF is prohibited from taking actions related to the preparation, holding and consideration at the 25th Reporting and Electoral Congress of the UAF of issues on the agenda in the part of the election of the President of the UAF, the election of the first vice-presidents, vice-presidents, members of the Executive Committee and the auditing body of the UAF.
The XXV UAF Congress was supposed to take place on March 7, 2022 in Dnipro, but due to the full-scale invasion of Russia, it was postponed indefinitely. UAF chairman Andriy Pavelka (who has been in charge of Ukrainian football since 2015) appeared to be the unopposed candidate until July 2022. However, in July, another person appeared willing to compete for the president's seat. Andriy Shevchenko was to become this candidate, who would receive considerable support.
Thus, the decision of the Pechersk District Court gives a chance to Shevchenko or other willing candidates to enter into a democratic struggle for the seat of the President of the UAF with the until recently unopposed candidate in the person of Pavelka. For the current leader of the Ukrainian Football Association, the issue of re-election as soon as possible is very important. After all, Andrii Pavelka must be re-elected to the position by December 2022 in order to remain a member of the UEFA executive committee.
It seems that Ukrainian football is on the threshold of big and qualitative changes.
