Shakhtar Donetsk defender Valeriy Bondar said that he thinks about how all Ukrainian football players should give in matches now.
“The football field is the place where we can take a break from what is happening in Ukraine for 90 minutes. You can't stop thinking about what's going on in our country. It's very hard. Our head coach (Croat Igor Jovicevich, - ed.) says that we must play for the Ukrainians, for those who are now in Ukraine, for the military.
Now our guys are going on a counteroffensive, defending somewhere. They do heroic things. They are a hundred times harder than us. We go out on the field, do what we love, and we should just be glad that we can do it thanks to them. We must fight like the guys at the front fight. They fight for every centimeter on the front, and we must fight for every centimeter on the field," said Bondar.
