Shakhtar General Director Serhiy Palkin spoke about the club's reaction to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) in the case of the Donetsk team against FIFA.
— We are not satisfied with the CAS decision. We will go to the Swiss Federal Court, to the European Commission, because we are sure that FIFA violated antitrust laws. If FIFA continues to use this rule at the end of the season, many of the players we have signed will have their contracts suspended and we will lose them for free.
As of June 2023, our losses will amount to 40 million euros. If FIFA continues to use this rule, they will increase to 70 million. Some players will break contracts and our losses will increase.
We will also meet with the ECA (European Club Association) to create a series of documents allowing us to win lawsuits against FIFA,” Palkin said.
