On this day, January 27, the legendary Dynamo midfielder, coach Valentin Belkevich was born.
Valentin Belkevich (1973-2014) - former Belarusian midfielder of Dynamo Kyiv. Seven-time champion of Ukraine. He superbly interacted with a pair of forwards Shevchenko-Rebrov, making up the “shocking” triangle of Dynamo. For the game model that Valery Lobanovsky brought to life, Belkevich became a necessary element of the Dynamo system - it was he who was the link between the reliable and rich defense of the people of Kiev and the mobile attack in the person of Shevchenko and Rebrov.
It was he who organized the lion's share of the swift and smashing counterattacks that became Dynamo's signature style in the late 90s. Until the end of the 2013-2014 season, he worked as a head coach of the Dynamo youth team. He died on August 1, 2014 from thromboembolism.
