English Brighton, after a slight pause, resumed negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk regarding the transfer of Ukrainian club defender Mykola Matvienko, SkySports reports.
According to the source, the British, in their third attempt to get the 26-year-old footballer, offered the Pitmen £20 million (about €23 million) as a guaranteed payment for his transfer, and another £5 million in bonuses.
At the same time, it is reported that Shakhtar have increased their financial appetites: now the Donetsk club is eager to make 35 million pounds sterling (almost 40 million euros) on the sale of Matvienko, while earlier the Pitmen were ready to part with their defender for 30 million euros.
Recall that in its first offer to the Donetsk team, Brighton expressed its readiness to pay 11 million euros for the transfer of Matvienko, and in the second it raised the bar to 20 million euros.
