The deputy head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Serhiy Mykolaychuk, said how the sale of footballers will affect the balance of payments of the banking system.
- The transfer of players from Ukrainian clubs has become more frequent lately. Quite a significant amount is being accumulated, we are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars. This may somehow affect the balance of payments and influence your decisions, in particular, on the exchange rate?
- That is a good question(smiling). I think that the inflow of foreign currency in the volumes generated by player sales is really important for our currency market. At the same time, as I remember, individual payments for individual players are very dependent on bonuses for their performances.
Given this factor, it seems to me that the effectiveness of Mudrik or Zabarny in the Premier League will now, maybe not directly, but indirectly influence our foreign exchange market and our monetary decisions.
A new word in monetary policy: the dependence of functions, of the National Bank's reaction on the performance of individual players in the British Premier League(laughs).
