German midfielder Mesut Özil on his official Twitter page announced the end of his professional soccer career.

During his career, Özil played for Schalke, Werder, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Fenerbahçe. Özil's last club was Istanbul.

As a member of the German national team, Özil played 92 games, becoming world champion in 2014.
