A well-known Ukrainian journalist and commentator, Igor Tsyganik, spoke on the air of the Tsyganik Live programme about the scandal that arose around the Dnipro-1 vs Metalist match in the Ukrainian championship.
"Before the game, a certain person called the match referee Yaroslav Kozyk and said that Dnipro-1 would win this particular match with a certain score. The referee of the match, following all the recommendations of the UAF and UEFA, informed his immediate superiors, who said that there was such a signal and passed the information to UEFA, and they passed the information on. As a result, some betting companies simply withdrew bets on this match.
This call was recorded in an appendix to the match report. The investigation is currently underway. Who made the call? This is a question. As far as I understand, this person called the result that did not take place in this match. And on the basis of this, such a scandalous story happened.
Now questions arise... I demand an investigation! I demand that the names of the people who are directly involved in this be named! And most importantly - who called the arbitrator?! This can be very easily determined. I haven't had a chance to read the report, and perhaps the name of the person who called and said it is written there. When we find out, then we will understand how serious this is.
I demand from the Ethics and Fair Play Committee, if necessary, I will write another letter to inform them about the developments in this situation and, most importantly, to name the person who organised the call to the referee of this match. After that, we will be able to understand what really happened in this match," Tsyganik said.
