Former AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko has recalled the events of the 2002/03 Champions League.
"Every time I think about that penalty shoot-out (in the final match against Juventus - note), I get emotional. It is the best moment of my life.
The season started very badly for me, with a three-month injury. It was very difficult to come back because Ancelotti had changed the scheme to herringbone (4-3-2-1 - note). I didn't really like it but it worked, the team played well.
I was waiting for my moment and eventually it came in the match against Real Madrid. Ancelotti called me before the game and told me he would give me a chance to play. He managed to motivate me even though I was already very motivated. We won 1-0 and I scored a beautiful goal.
Then the semi-final against Inter, a very tough game. There was a lot of tension, some could not even sleep because of it. Nobody wanted to lose. Then the final against Juventus, it was strong emotions," Shevchenko told Milano Football Week.
