Former Dynamo coach Jozsef Szabo shared his impressions of Kyiv's match against Veres and his predictions for Dynamo and Shakhtar's performances in the European competitions.
Jozsef Szabo- What are your impressions after the match?
- Not a very interesting game - especially in the first half. "Dynamo and Shovkovskyi did well. The team is playing. The opponent is not the same, but Dynamo were stronger, they had chances. They should have scored in the first half, but didn't. Kyiv had a clear advantage. Especially in the first half. Towards the end of the championship, Dynamo looked more composed. Although, it is the end of the championship and the teams are ready for the holidays. All the prize-winning places have already been determined - they came out, played and that's it.
- Why did Veres "float" at the end of the match?
- It was psychology. We didn't score ourselves and immediately responded with a goal. The scoreline says that Kyiv is stronger. The result is on the scoreboard.
- What are the reasons for Dynamo's improved performance in recent matches?
- Firstly, the opponents are not from the top of the standings. Although even Shakhtar's players' skills are not the same. So far, we are not going to get away from this. I watch the matches, I see how the players treat the game, how they pass... There is no skill - that's for sure.
Secondly, I think that the appointment of Shovkovskyi had a positive impact on the team. And thirdly, there is no responsibility for the result. Everything is predetermined and the price of a mistake is not high.
- Ramirez took advantage of one of his chances to score - is he a good competitor for Vanat for a place in the team?
- He has the level of UPL players. With playing time, the Venezuelan is showing more and more confidence. It seems that Vanat will have nothing to do here and Ramirez will win the competition. Shovkovskyi will play him if he remains in charge of Dynamo. Eric has the opportunity to grow into a good footballer. Someone will buy him. Indeed, he is playing better and better with every game.
- Dynamo Kyiv will play in the Conference League. How do you predict the performance of the Kyiv team?
- We'll see what the choice of Dynamo's management will be - whether Shovkovskyi will remain in charge or Lucescu will return. I'm not against Lucescu, but I think we should keep Shovkovskyi. Mircea can give suggestions while remaining on the coaching staff. This is a normal phenomenon.
As for the tournament itself, I think no one needs the Conference League. There are mid-table teams playing there, some of them play a double, matches that are often played with the responsibility of a friendly. I think that Dynamo will definitely qualify for the group and will be able to leave it. There are no strong rivals at this stage.
- What are your expectations for Shakhtar's game in the Champions League?
- I don't know how Shakhtar will perform in the Champions League. I am afraid that they will not make a splash there. The Champions League is played by teams from championships that are much higher in class. What will Shakhtar do there? "The Pitmen will choose to play from defence and on the counterattack, looking for an opponent's mistake somewhere. In the Champions League, all teams are attacking. I don't see a team in the English Championship that sits in its penalty area and fights back. Everyone defends, everyone attacks. In the top championships, even teams in the 10th-12th places have high skills.
