Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin explained why midfielder Mikhail Mudryk moved to Chelsea and not Arsenal.
"The amount was the same - 100 million, but within that amount the structure was different. It's the timing of the sums, the terms on bonuses, etc. Therefore, we decided that Chelsea suited us better. With Arsenal we negotiated for a very long time, it was complicated. I had more meetings with them and negotiated with them than with Chelsea. Negotiations were going on for months.
With Chelsea, everything was fairly simple. I showed them the logic on my fingers and they said: "No questions, we agree. Everything was very clear, constructive, understandable and clear with them. Why is Mudryk not able to play for Chelsea? And who manages to do it there?", Palkin said in an interview with Goncharov's Youtube channel.
