On Thursday, 17 August, Dynamo Kyiv will play the return match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League with Greek Aris (the first meeting of the rivals ended with a 1-0 victory of the Greek team). The game is nominally a home game for Dynamo, but because of the war it will be held in Bucharest at the Rapida stadium.
A day before the game, the Romanian capital hosted a pre-match press conference of Aris head coach Apostolos Terzis.
- We should not think about the result of the first game. We know we have an advantage, but we are here to win. We will play as if tomorrow is the first match. We played well a week ago at home, but now we want to play even better.
We will be 100% focused, we need to play compact in defence. I hope our whole team can show their best qualities and go on to the next round of the Conference League. Again, our goal is to win tomorrow's game. We all believe in it.
Personnel situation in the team? Vladimir Darida, who had an injury, will be able to play in tomorrow's game. He has already recovered from the injury and is training with the team. As for the goalkeeper Cuesta, the situation is difficult, the doctors are trying to do everything necessary from their side. Only before tomorrow's match we will decide whether he will be able to play.
Speaking about the opponent, I think, tomorrow we should expect a lot of pressing from Dynamo, especially near our penalty area. They will want us to make mistakes, which will allow them to score a quick goal. But we have discussed it with our players, and everyone understands that we need to be as focused and accurate as possible. We need to play even better than in the first match. Besides, tomorrow there will not be so many of our fans at the stadium.
I also understand that Dynamo can change a lot in their game. I have seen all the matches of Kyivians this season. We know what we need to do.
