Famous Ukrainian journalist Mykola Neseniuk dedicated a post on Facebook to the teams "Karpaty" and "Ruh".

During the New Year and post-New Year days, it became known that the Ukrainian "professional football club" is most likely to cease its existence this summer. There’s nothing surprising about this — Ukrainian "football clubs," which exist solely due to the goodwill of their owners, can emerge and disappear at any moment. As soon as the owner loses the desire to spend on the "football club," this "club" disappears leaving nothing behind except records in the competition protocols.

However, the current news is somewhat different from the previous ones. When previously "clubs" disappeared unexpectedly and this was not announced in advance, this time it is not so. The "Ruh" team from a village near Lviv intends to complete the spring part of the season and only then cease to exist. This seems at least strange — participation in football competitions implies a desire to achieve results. Each team aims at least not to be relegated from the league by occupying one of the last places. When one of the teams announces in advance that it will not play in the next championship, questions arise about the motivation of its players in the thirteen remaining matches. Will the team genuinely fight for points that it does not need in advance? Especially when not all key players will remain. In no way do I intend to suspect "Ruh" of anything wrong, but really — what can be the result of a game that one team needs, and the other does not?

As for the reason for the announcement about the cessation of "Ruh," there are no mysteries here — civilized Europe is gradually stopping smoking cigarettes. And this means that the profits of cigarette manufacturers will certainly decline, one of whom until recently was the team owner. As for the profits from transfers of trained players, which the team's speakers have talked about so much and so beautifully over the years, it should be thought that they will not be enough for its further existence. Will the merger of "Ruh" with "Karpaty," whose owner produces sugar, help? Everything is heading towards that in civilized Europe, following the abandonment of cigarettes, sugar will also be rejected. This will not be today and not tomorrow, but it is worth considering. But for now — a smoke break!
