To be here at my presentation as head coach is an indescribable emotion, a dream that has been a long time coming. When I was 11 years old, I asked my mum to buy me an Italian flag so I could celebrate the team's victory over Germany in the semi-finals. Now I will bring this flag back to the pitch when I step onto the coaching platform. We hope that a similar dream will be revived in all the children who watch Italian national team matches," journalist Gianluca Di Marzio quoted Spalletti as saying at the press conference on his website.
