Catalan football club Barcelona may cease to exist if the club is found guilty in the Negreira case, The Telegraph reports.
On 28 September, Barcelona was charged with bribery.
"The Negreira case is Barcelona's accusation of bribing Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, who served as vice president of the Spanish Football Federation's Technical Committee of Referees. Between 2001 and 2018, Negreira received €7.3 million from the Catalans.
"If proven guilty, the criminals will be punished with 3 to 6 years in prison. The team itself may be suspended from any activity as a professional club. This is likely to lead to a complete bankruptcy of the 124-year-old club," The Telegraph article says.
