It has become known that UEFA vice-president Karl-Erik Nilsson has resigned as president of the Swedish National Sports Confederation.
Nilsson was one of three UEFA vice-presidents who supported the decision to return the national team of Russia U-17 to official matches. In Sweden, this caused a negative reaction, so the functionary decided to leave his position.
"The media attention and focus on my person is harmful to Swedish sport. In addition, there are organised hater attacks on me," said Nilsson.
Later, following UEFA, the Russian U-17 national team was also returned to matches by FIFA.
