The head coach of Obolon Kyiv Valerii Ivashchenko told how his team feels about the Premier League and recalled the 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup.
Valery Ivashchenko- As the saying goes: "even the best plan never goes according to plan". We are constantly making some adjustments, but this is football, and that's what makes it interesting. I have repeated many times that anything can happen. And the guys' task is to react quickly to what happens in the match.
Yes, the first games were filled with excitement, the guys were nervous, but this is not the first league. But in those matches where we managed to win or get points, the players found inspiration and started to believe in themselves. Of course, the coaching staff will always have complaints and record mistakes that need to be worked on. We still need to improve everything, not sit still. But at the same time, there are positive aspects.
- The victory over Dynamo in the Ukrainian Cup was a pleasant sensation for your team. Please tell us, is this your most memorable victory in your coaching career, or was there something else more inspiring?
- Well, we haven't won the Ukrainian championship yet, and we haven't become world champions either. So, at the moment, the victory over Dynamo is just that. It's not every day that you manage to beat the giants of Ukrainian football. These can be significant victories for both the coaching staff and the whole team. And this inspires future victories, because at such moments you believe that everything is possible and that everyone is a living person, they can win and lose.
