Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola believes that the Citizens' main rival is not Manchester United, but Liverpool.
"There was one year under Ule when they were really close, but overall it was only Liverpool. When my time here is over, I will be able to say that Liverpool were my and our worst enemy. They challenged us and helped us to become stronger in all aspects. They gave us competition like no other in my time here.
Of course, now Arsenal are back, Newcastle have added, Chelsea are in the process of rebuilding. And look at Tottenham. They'll be fresh all season because they're out of the League Cup: They will certainly be among the contenders, given their coach, but in the past, our worst enemy was Liverpool," Guardiola was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
