The Russian Football Union (RFU) is no longer considering the option of moving from UEFA to the Asian Football Confederation. This was made clear by the RFU general secretary Maxim Mitrofanov.

"There is a paper from FIFA, which prohibits us from participating in official competitions. There is such a paper? Yes. That is, we are talking about a ban all over the world. This paper is valid all over the world. And in case of withdrawal from UEFA it is not cancelled automatically," - cite the words of Mitrofanov Russian media.

We shall remind you that immediately after Russia's attack on Ukraine on 24 February 2022, all Russian clubs and national teams were expelled from world football and to this day do not take part in official competitions.
