Journalist Vladimir Zverov spoke about the serious problems experienced by Kharkiv "Metalist", currently playing in the first league.
"Thank God that "Metalist" is still there. A huge part of the club's budget - about 35% - goes to various court cases in FIFA, CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne - ed.) with legionnaires as a legacy of the times of Kurchenko - the former president of Metalist. The latter signed a large number of legionnaires and did not pay their salaries. Footballers won court cases, and FIFA sent all these verdicts already to the newly created Metalist.
There are a lot of these cases. And they are very costly. Metalist spends huge money on lawyers and translators, as for the first league club. And on the cases themselves, somewhere 10 thousand Swiss francs must be paid, somewhere - 20 thousand, somewhere - 40 thousand. And as a result, more than a third of the club's budget goes to these court payments. Therefore, "Metalist" is simply deprived of the opportunity to conduct a quality personnel policy and to acquire players who would allow the club to have now not 7 points in its asset, but 27, and go not in last place in the standings of the first league, and claim to return to UPL.
In fact, the club does not live, but survives. And by appeal is trying to prove that this "Metalist" is not the successor of that "Metalist" Kurchenko. But if CAS rejects this appeal, the club will have two ways: either to pay tens of millions of dollars in debts, or to close. Just close! Can this "Metalist" in 2023 to pay tens of millions of debts? It can not", - said Zverov on air of Youtube channel "PROFUTBOL Digital".
