The Football Association of England has decided to exclude Barnsley from the current FA Cup draw.
According to the BBC, the reason for this decision could be the appearance on the pitch in the return leg of striker Aiden Marsh, who was on loan from York City at the time of the first meeting. According to the FA Cup rules, only players who were on the squad for the first leg can take part in the replay.
"Today, the Football Association of England informed us that we will no longer be able to participate in the FA Cup this season.
We would like to apologise to our fans, players and staff for this unfortunate mistake. This mistake, while unintentional, falls far short of the high standards we have set at this club and is simply not what you deserve," Barnsley said in a statement.
