On 21 March 2024, the national team of Ukraine will compete against the players of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the play-off round of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Famous Ukrainian coach Oleg Fedorchuk told us who he considers to be the favourite in this semi-final of the B path:
Oleg Fedorchuk"A few seasons ago, I would have called the chances of the Ukrainian and Bosnian national teams equal. But recently, the situation has changed somewhat, I believe that the long-term leaders of the Balkans Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko have already played their best matches, while our young people have significantly improved, and therefore, in my opinion, the Ukrainians are the favourites, in percentage terms, about 60 to 40.
It is also important that our veterans have not yet said their last word, and a whole group of players are involved in the top championships and make themselves felt, and finally, Ukraine has a very potentially strong attack.
What worries me, first of all, is the format when everything is decided in one confrontation. Surprises are possible in head-to-head matches, and the stronger team does not always win. A lot will depend on which coach adopts a more effective tactic. And the timing of the away match is not favourable for the UPL players, where the teams are just getting into their stride in March.
Nevertheless, I believe in Serhii Rebrov and his team that they will take into account every detail in preparation and overcome the Bosnian barrier on the way to the final part of Euro 2024," Fedorchuk said.
