Ukrainian referee Kateryna Monzul, who officiated at the scandalous Shakhtar vs Veres match, has been suspended from refereeing, the UAF Referees Committee reports.
Vitaliy Romanov, who worked as an assistant referee in the game, has also been suspended.
It will be recalled that Shakhtar's player struck the ball, which hit the buttocks of a Veres defender. Kateryna Monzul incorrectly awarded a penalty, and the VAR referee did not correct her decision and did not even call her to review the match on the pitch to conduct a proper check.
The UAF CA gave negative marks and temporarily suspended both referees from matches, with a special note to the VAR referee that "his work should be based on such qualities as courage, neutrality, honesty and the absence of influence on his own work by the charisma of the chief referee on the field".
