Columbus Crew defender Yevhen Cheberko spoke about his first trophy in the United States and thanked everyone who is defending Ukraine in the war against Russia.
"In America, I won my first trophy, but you understand that football is not the most important thing right now. I know what the situation is in Ukraine.
I am far away, but I thank the Armed Forces and everyone who is holding and defending Ukraine, all the firefighters, doctors, volunteers. I thank everyone who stands up for Ukraine. Because I have the opportunity to play now.
So winning the MLS final was a very special moment for me. You have some hope that we can always win because we, Ukrainians, are so strong in spirit that we can show the best results in the most difficult situations," Cheberko said.
