Oleksandr Golovko, the famous defender of Kyiv Dynamo of the late 90s of the last century, told what he thinks about the phenomenon of that team, which, as it should be reminded, reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in the season-1998/99, and a year earlier played in the quarter-finals of this tournament.
"It seems to me that in order to explain the phenomenon of Dynamo Kyiv in the late 90s of the last century, there should be some research. Lobanovsky's teams worked for 3-4 years. And then there was a pause. There is a ground for research.
It seems to me that at that time there was a group of players who fully fit the philosophy of Lobanovsky's work, who could withstand those loads. Loads not only physical, but also psychological. The best players were selected from this group. But even they are enough for a limited period of time. After that, you go to zero psychologically. You're just a wimp. (laughs). Physically you can still work, but it's like a car that just rolls. It was like that with that team, it was like that with each of us," Golovko said on the air of Youtube channel "Pershe Online Radio Shkola".
