Former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Jermaine Lens has recalled the events of the 2014 Revolution of Dignity that took place in the Ukrainian capital at the time.

Jermaine Lens

"It was a turbulent time, during which I didn't feel safe in Kyiv for a minute. But, at the same time, the club took care of our safety at a very high level. Despite these events, football continued. It was like an outlet for people.

The events that happened then were very unusual. One day I was standing at a traffic light in my car and saw men in balaclavas approaching, holding all kinds of batons and other objects. I thought at the time: "What the hell? Are they going to smash my car to pieces?". But they passed by.

And when I looked in the rear-view mirror, I saw that the police car was completely smashed. In doing so, it crashed into another car to pass," Voetbal International quoted Lens as saying.
