Former England striker Kriss Sutton has stood up for Arsenal's Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has been under fire of harsh criticism recently.
The latest to speak negatively about the 27-year-old was former Canaries goalkeeper David Seaman, who said the Ukrainian's game "annoys everyone".
But Sutton believes the criticism of Zinchenko is "unfair" and says he has become a "scapegoat" during a difficult situation at Arsenal.
"These attacks on Zinchenko are clearly unfair. In fact, I can't stand such things. But in the history of football there have always been scapegoats, always make someone to blame. Now this role was given to Zinchenko. For some reason they thought that he should take the blame for Arsenal's poor form - he was made a scapegoat in this situation.
I won't talk about all Arsenal fans, but some of them have as many questions as the team: they are very passionate, but, on the other hand, there were those who in recent matches did not bother to stay in the stands until the end of the game. And as for the criticism, the fans have to remember that one way or another, Arsenal have had a good season," Sutton said on the "It's All Kicking Off!" podcast.
