Former Romania midfielder Marcel Raducanu is discouraged by the results of his country's national team in the friendly matches before Euro 2024 (Romania - Bulgaria - 0:0, Romania - Liechtenstein - 0:0), where its group rivals, as you may recall, will be Belgium, Ukraine, Slovakia.
"I didn't see the match with Bulgaria, and in the duel with Liechtenstein I had enough of its first 20 minutes. When I saw how our national team looked against such an opponent, I switched to the match between Germany and Greece.
It is important to draw the right conclusion about why it happened. Perhaps the players did not adapt to the turf. Perhaps we should have played against even stronger opponents - for example, San Marino or Gibraltar. It is clear that I am joking, but I would not be surprised if we would have more problems with these teams.
However, similar things happened with other teams. The Ukraine national team didn't show anything extraordinary in these friendlies either. But it does not change the fact that the Ukrainian team can demonstrate top-level soccer. A draw with Ukraine in the opening match of Euro 2024 was a great result, but to achieve it, we need to play different soccer.
I think the main problem of the Romanian national team is in the midfield. And also in the realization of chances: we have some good players at the end of attacks, and they should score when they have chances. But in general, at the Euros we will need to play beyond our limits, because that's where our opponents' opportunities are," Gazeta Sporturilor quotes Reducanu as saying.
