UAF President Andriy Shevchenko, reacting to the video message of Ukraine national team players on the eve of the start of Euro-2024 called on all countries participating in the European Championship to help Ukraine.
Andriy Shevchenko"Euro 2024 is starting in Germany. We often hear that soccer is out of war, but this video proves otherwise. There is not a single Ukrainian soccer player, not a single Ukrainian city, stadium, ground, not a single child who has not been touched by war.
We can only be here at Euro 2024 thanks to the people who are fighting for our freedom. Among them are hundreds of thousands of soccer fans. They would like to be in the stands, but they are at the front. Our cities would also like to host the Euros, but now they are fighting not for the tournament, but for freedom.
And that is why we call on all countries participating in the European Championship to help Ukraine. Soccer is not only an outstanding sport, it is also a great power. The power of solidarity and unity, support, which our country needs so much," Shevchenko wrote on his page in the social network Instagram.
