Danylo Sikan, forward of the Ukrainian Olympic team, shared his impressions of the team's preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
Danylo Sikan- I understand that participation in the Olympic Games is especially important for Ukraine at this time. Training in the national team is very different from training in a club, because here we have to understand the tactics and get to know each other as quickly as possible in a short time. We know that not all clubs released the players the coaching staff wanted to see, and we, in turn, have to prepare as much as possible.
The team consists of the fact that we have to support each other. Otherwise, there will be no result. As for the comparison of rivals, European teams are more tactically prepared. But exotic teams are stronger and more resilient, and you have to play against them due to physics.
We work in a good rhythm, very intense training. As for our first opponent in sparring, the Egyptian national team, today we had a theory. This is a very good team, compact, physically prepared. They rely more on the individual qualities of their players. The task for the control matches is to prepare for the Olympic Games both tactically and physically.
I think all the players dream of scoring the first goal at the first ever Olympic Games for Ukraine. I also want to become the best scorer of the Olympic team, but the most important thing is the team's victory," said Danylo.
