The football family has suffered a heavy loss. Ihor Severenchuk, a member of Lviv's Karpaty, gave his life in the battle for Ukraine's independence.
The football school of Lviv's Karpaty, where Ihor Severenchuk studied, has announced the sad news. The former football player is now 31 years old.
Ihor Severenchuk was born on December 17, 1993. Since childhood, he was fond of football. He studied at the Karpaty Children's and Youth Sports School, where his coach was Gennadiy Bronislavovych Pogorelets.
He played for the Lions in the DUFL championship, and after graduating from high school he became a player in the youth team of Uzhhorod's Hoverla. Subsequently, he defended the colors of a number of amateur clubs in his native Lviv region.
In April 2022, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ihor served as the chief sergeant of an airborne assault platoon. The courageous warrior received a number of awards: "To the Unbreakable Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War", "Cross of Honor", "Commander's Award of the Liman Operational and Tactical Group", "For Military Valor", "Golden Cross" and the Order "For Courage".
On August 13, during the Kursk operation, he was killed near the village of Pohrebky. Ihor is survived by his wife Veronika, son Denys, mother, father and brother.
