Representatives of the elite division of the Ukrainian championship, Kryvbas and Veres, propose to create another football tournament in Ukraine. This was reported by the Football from a Helicopter telegram channel.
"As it became known to us, Kryvbas and Veres are proposing to launch a new tournament, a conditional league cup, as it is in England and some other countries. So far, the format of the tournament is unclear, as it is unclear what the participants will be able to get, given the limited number of places in European competitions.
Our sources assure us that the idea is still quite crude and it is exclusively a commercial tournament, where one of the traditional betting companies can act as a sponsor, and matches will be held during national teams' breaks.
At the same time, they claim that although the idea seems interesting, most UPL participants do not support it because they do not want to spend extra money and not receive any awards. The issue is still under discussion," the post says.
